Domestic Violence Affecting Children 2009-10

The following chart shows the number of recorded incidents of domestic violence during 2009/10 financial year where children were present, the number of children who were present and the incident rate per 1000 population. There is a tremendous variation between wards, with the highest rates being seen in the most deprived wards.

About 90% of incidents involve criminal offences, of which slightly under half are notifiable crimes. The remainder are incidents where no actual crime has been committed.
